Play Off Final was a lightweight story because there are some very heavy ones coming up and I thought it would be good to have a FEW laughs. The idea of the TARDIS disguising
itself as a car was spawned by a mustard yellow Porsche Boxter that we
regularly see parked on double yellow lines but which NEVER seems to get
booked. I got to thinking about what would happen if the TARDIS was disguised
as a car and came to the attention of a traffic warden. Meanwhile, I wanted to show Chrístõ and his friends actually having some fun for a change. When I started to write this story Preston North End, the football team that Chrístõ and The Doctor have consistently supported in these stories right from the first one I wrote, Unfinished Business, were in the play off position for promotion to the Premiership. They would, therefore, have a fighting chance of getting to the play off final at the new Wembley, fitting in with the story. By the time I posted the story, they had completely messed it up and had lost out on the play off zone altogether. At time of writing this, they will be lucky to escape relegation. They let me and Chrístõ down big time. I looked up the new Wembley website in order to work out the best seats for Chrístõ and his friends. And it was then that I discovered that corporate money ruled. Most of the seats closest to the pitch are block owned by businesses for ‘hospitality’. This means that genuine fans will be nowhere near the action and those closest to it will be businessmen in suits with little or no interest in the game. Something is wrong with that set up, somehow! A national sports stadium that puts corporate interests first has sold out. Anyway, best seats
or not, Kohb and And meanwhile the TARDIS gets in a whole lot of trouble, and very nearly gets crushed. Chrístõ to the rescue of his faithful companion. Alls well that ends well.
