Vicki's Faith was meant to go online in the summer of 2007, after Samhain Blood, following a logical timeframe for the characters. Instead I decided to keep it for Christmas 2007 and made sure that the timeframe of the events brought us up to another Christmas for the Lœngbærrow family. Winter Solstice and Vicki’s Faith fit into the frame perfectly.

The story is mostly about Vicki and Sukie and their faith in The Doctor to help them when they were in trouble. It is also about the entity that inadvertently caused the problem. It is also about faith in general. The people trapped in the church were all there because they believe in God and it is Christmas and Christmas is a time to reflect on what you believe in.

And the question is, when The Doctor rescues them, does the hand of a Higher Authority guide him? Vicki and Sukie aren’t certain. They believe firmly in The Doctor. But Josephine and the Parish Priest have a different view. And who is to say which is right. I’m not going to say either way. It’s for readers to decide for themselves.

Coincidentally, the very day this story went online, Doctor Who was criticised by the leader of a right-wing group, Christian Voice, for the Messianic overtones of the series! I don't think Stephen Green and his adherents are ever going to be fans of my work!
